UFC 151 was supposed to be headlined by Dan Henderson challenging UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Unfortunately the fight never happened. Henderson was forced to withdraw due to injury, Jones refused a last minute fight with Sonnen, and the event was ultimately cancelled.

Jon Jones vs Dan Henderson – Underground Submission 2

They will finally step into a cage with each other on December 11th 2016, only they won’t be allowed to strike when they do. Both fighters have committed to competing at the Chael Sonnen promoted event Submission Underground 2.

The circumstances surrounding this match-up couldn’t get any more bizarre. The bout involves 2 UFC fighters, competing on a show promoted by a guy who just signed with Bellator. On top of that, one of the fighters just retired and the other guy is serving a 1-year suspension for a failed drug test.

The first Submission Underground event happened earlier this summer in Sonnen’s hometown of Portland. The event included many names MMA fans would be familiar with, including Vinny Magalhaes, Ricco Rodriguez and Jake Shields. The events air live on the FloSports app.

Miesha Tate vs Jessica Eye will be the co-main event at Submission Underground 2 on December 11th 2016. The two met in the UFC on July 25th 2015, with Tate earning a unanimous decision victory.
