BP. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE HONEST BY HEAVEN TANUDIREDJA COLLECTION?
HT. For our Honest by capsule, the starting point was the same as my current collection - the beauty behind mental disorders. Which sounds a bit dark but its this beautiful chaos that I am fascinated with. I tried to create this by way of movement, via my ornaments. In this chase its gold plated hands and chairs paired with vintage crystals.

BP. HOW MANY PIECES DID YOU CREATE?
HT. In total, I designed six different army-green and gold pieces for the collaboration; a clutch, a spiral neck piece, a medallion, a bracelets in two ways and a pair of earrings.

BP. WHAT MATERIALS DID YOU USE FOR THIS COLLECTION?
HT. The core of my pieces are often brass that then go through a coating process, either in 18kt gold or in a powdered pigment. I then adorned each piece with vintage crystals and unique hand-casted ornaments. I tend to focus on found crystals that are no longer produced, I enjoy the hunt of finding these obscure crystals, its like treasure hunt for me. Its part of the creative process the application of these uncompromising materials.

BP. YOU ARE OFFERING THE HONEST BY CUSTOMER A 'LIFETIME' GUARANTEE FOR THIS COLLECTION. DO YOU THINK MAKING HIGH QUALITY JEWELLERY/FASHION COULD HELP CREATE A MORE SUSTAINABLE FASHION INDUSTRY?
HT. Yes I hope so. I would like to think by making pieces that are not driven by momentary style you are making a contribution or suggestion for longer consumption. More than that I like pieces with character, pieces that will grow with you and with time, similar to the vintage crystal I sculpt with - its a complete idea. This is something very important to me and apart of the mission to offer this guarantee.

BP. WHY DID YOU ACCEPT HONEST BY'S INVITATION TO CREATE AN EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION FOR US?
HT. Bruno when you launched Honest by last year, I had tremendous respect for you taking on this risk and I was deeply inspired by your courage. Seeing you launch a socially aware brand made me try to be more aware in what I was doing in my own atelier, even before you invited me. We have been make everything by hand for some time now but with this collaboration I learn how important it is to make beautiful products that respect your clients and the world.

BP. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THE FASHION INDUSTRY TODAY?
HT. What is really interesting in fashion today is how fast everything has to be. Fast design, fast production - the expectations are so high to sell FAST. I try to understand the minds of people, why are people less interested in products that require craftsmanship or slow trade, that might possibly last a lifetime. Personally, I like buying products that can be repaired and stay with me forever so I try to offer this to my customer.

BP. HOW GREEN ARE YOU IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?
HT. I try to be aware! I try to not use products with the potential to be dangerous to myself, to others or to the planet in general. I am lucky I am fascinated with the idea of re-using, in all areas of my life, so this idea of being "green" came quite easy for me.

BP.WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT FASHION?
HT. I love beautiful objects in general, not necessarily or simply fashion. Somehow my experience with fashion became a part of me but most of all I love creating, sharing and consuming beauty.

BP. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE MICHELLE, SHALA AND PAULA TO BE THE FACES OF THE HONEST BY HEAVEN TANUDIREDJA CAMPAIGN? WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT THEM?
HT. Shala, Michelle and Paula each have a different sense of style and personality, putting them together is like making a movie about woman. They have an indescribable factor about them, this is why we thought to photograph each of them in this very natural calm way allowing their own qualities to shine and I think they do. It was a lovely experiment and a beautiful result, I hope to collaborate with them in different ways moving forward.

BP. WHAT KIND OF WOMEN INSPIRE YOU?
HT. I like women with strong character, not necessarily those who match mine. Having strength, intelligence and curiosity is a true and deep inspiration for me.

BP. WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?
HT. I have a very simple dream. I would love to live on a little farm outside Antwerp or in Tuscany, or both, where I produce my own food and have a team of artisans who create beautiful pieces. Surrounded by landscape and the space for a clear and creative mind.

BP. WHAT IS HAPPINESS FOR YOU?
HT. Happiness for me is to see someone wearing my pieces. More generally, I love the colours of the sky as they makes a beautiful sunset, a good cup or ten of coffee always makes me happy and lets not forget romance!

BP. WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY TODAY?
HT. Wish for the best, prepare for the worst.

BP. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE QUOTE?
HT. "Where there is a true art and genuine virtuosity the artist can paint an incomparable masterpiece without leaving even a trace of his identity."
'My Name is Red' – Orhan Pamuk
