In the women’s strawweight division of the main card, Jéssica Andrade defeated Mackenzie Dern by delivering a right hand, resulting in a TKO win.

The bout ended at 03:15 of Round 2. With this latest win, Andrade’s record is now 25-12 MMA, 26-10 UFC, while Dern has a 13-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC record.

Andrade’s victory is a much-needed win after her three-fight losing skid. Dern acknowledged this earlier as the primary motivation of the opponent.

“She’s coming off three straight losses. … No one wants to lose four times,” said Dern earlier this week in an interview.

Dern isn’t wrong about that. During their bout at UFC 295, Andrade knocked down the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner four times, pushing the referee to intervene and wave off the fight.

It was an impressive win for Andrade after losing three times prior to this fight. Just in August, she was submitted by Tatiana Suarez. The same happened in her fight against Erin Blanchfield in February, while Yan Xiaonan knocked her out in May. With this, Andrade was basically a bruised fighter entering a cage that night, giving Dern the advantage to easily take her down. That’s the opposite of what happened, nonetheless, thanks to Dern’s superior offensive wrestling or striking.

It is indeed an impressive performance from Andrade, who managed to achieve four knockdowns in less than nine minutes. It is a record for her as the number is the most a woman fighter has achieved in just a single fight in UFC history.
